During the 118 years that the Tudors ruled, there were five Tudor monarchs.
It all started with the War of the Roses. Henry VII was from the House of Lancaster. Richard III was from the House of York. Although the Yorks and the Lancasters were the same family, they were fighting for the throne.
They fought in the Battle of Bosworth. Henry Tudor won, and his coronation was in 1485.
There was still one small problem, though. Most people were still on Richard III’s side. To unite the Lancaster with York, he married Elizabeth of York. She supported Richard. When they got married, the roses came together, and the Tudor symbol is now this:
